Frequently Asked Questions

What art program do you use?

I use Clip Studio Paint for everything, but I have previous experience with Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop and a smidge of Illustrator.

What brushes do you use?

I love any brush with texture and roughness. Pastels, chalks, gouache, and paint. The more that a brush can feel like real media, the more I'm likely to use it. I won't give out my own personal brushes, here, however.

Do you use color palettes?

Sometimes, yes! I would say I use them quite a lot. I find that they can help harmonize the color choices.

What made you become an artist?

Drawing has always been something that brought me a lot of joy, even when I was young. As I got older it grew into something that I wanted to breathe more life into!

How did you learn to draw?

I have to shout out "How To Draw More Manga" by Katy Coope. I bought it in 2003 at a book fair and it changed my life. When I started taking art a bit more seriously I focused on colors, lighting, and character design. I spent a lot of time trying to find my artistic style and bouncing around from one thing to another, practicing every day for hours on end.

Do you take requests?

Almost never! I have limited time and I will focus my efforts on my commissions during that time. If you want a specific drawing done, your best chance is to look at my commission page.

What would you call your art style?

I would say my style is heavily influenced by the ARG "Welcome Home!" I enjoy using bright colors and strong textures in my work.

Can you teach me how to draw?

I'm sorry, but no.

How long does a typical piece take you to finish?

Each piece is varied depending on the complexity and the timeframe that's expected, but generally I try to finish an illustration within the week that I start for the sake of moving onto the next project.

How do you overcome art block?

The age old answer for overcoming art block is to test yourself in different creative ways. If I'm having a hard time drawing digitally, I try to do things traditionally with pencils or even clay.

Do you work with any other mediums?

Personally I do enjoy making things in different mediums, but generally my expertise is in digital artwork.
